Find out which of the Fortune 500 companies have published their plans to adjust to the new model of work. There are 4 main types of hybrid work models that these organizations are adopting:

Flexible hybrid work model: Employees choose their work location depending on their preferences or priorities for the day.

Fixed hybrid work model: The company determines the number of days or amount of time an employee must work from the office.

Office-first hybrid work model: Employees work primarily from the office, with the option to work remotely as-needed.

Remote-first hybrid work model: Staff work remotely by default and come into the office on specific occasions.

Amazon

Flexible hybrid work model

On their website, Amazon published that they leave the decision up to individual teams to set policies about returning to the office. They acknowledge that some roles don’t have the flexibility to work remotely, such as their warehouse workers.

Apple

Fixed hybrid work model

Apple announced that they are adopting a hybrid work model with mandatory three days per week in-office. Fortune reports that the policy was met with widespread criticism by employees.

UnitedHealth Group

Fixed hybrid work model

Employees are suggested to work three days per week in-office and two days per week remotely. Business leaders can decide to adopt a different model as needed for specific teams.

Exxon Mobil

Office-first hybrid work model

According to the Houston Chronicle, corporate workers are expected to be in the office on a full-time basis.

Berkshire Hathaway

Flexible hybrid work model

Yahoo! Finance reports that CEO Charlie Munger does not think that being in the office full-time will ever return as the norm.

Alphabet

Fixed hybrid work model

As of April 4, 2022, Google called workers back to the office at least three days per week under a hybrid working model. Staff can also work remotely anywhere in the world for up to four weeks per year.

According to a press release, the company boasts a flexible work model where employees can choose if they want to attend corporate offices or work remotely.

Cigna

Flexible hybrid work model

Cigna published on their own site that employees are given ultimate flexibility and autonomy to choose where they work.

AT&T

Office-first hybrid work model

According to The Guardian, AT&T employees did not accept the company’s mandatory return-to-office. They went so far to start a change.org campaign to raise awareness about their views on the policy.

Microsoft

Flexible hybrid work model

Microsoft creates a lot of the tools that keep workers connected in a hybrid environment it’s no surprise that the company is adopting a hybrid work model.

Chevron

Fixed hybrid work model

Corporate employees work under a hybrid model. They work remotely for a maximum of two days per week, and the rest of the week must be spent in office.

Kroger

Kroger’s CEO has openly spoke about the need for corporate employees to return to the office. The company has a vaccination policy and will increase health insurance rates for some unvaccinated workers.

Ford Motor

Ford planned to launch a flexible hybrid work model in April 2022. They conducted a survey among employees that found a hybrid schedule would best suit everyone’s needs.

Verizon Communications

Flexible hybrid work model

According to their website, Verizon is launching a flexible hybrid work model for its corporate employees.

JPMorgan Chase

Office-first hybrid work model

JPMC has been reluctant to embrace hybrid work or remote work, with its CEO openly criticizing remote working. However, about half of employees work in the office full-time and the other half have a hybrid model. JPMC is reportedly tracking employees’ check-ins at the office to ensure compliance.

General Motors

Flexible hybrid work model

As of September 2022, GM wanted to roll out a hybrid work policy where corporate workers attended the office three days per week. It was met with backlash from employees, and the policy has been revised to begin in 2023, with a more flexible trial period for the remainder of 2022.

Centene

Centene wants to return to the office, but has delayed the process to ensure vaccination rates are high among their employee base.

Meta Platforms

Office-first hybrid work model

According to their website, Meta is embracing remote work for anyone at their company upon request. Otherwise, office visits are flexible, but the expectation is that employees work from the office half of the time.

Comcast

Fixed hybrid work model

Starting September 2022, staff are expected to be in the office at least three days per week. The company has offered flexibility to extenuating circumstances and will work with individual employees to create a plan that best suits them.

Phillips 66

Office-first hybrid work model

The company mandated workers to return to the office full-time, in hopes that it would set an example for other companies in the industry.

Valero Energy

Office-first hybrid work model

Valero reopened their offices in mid-2020. Although they allow some staff to work remotely by exception, most corporate staff work in the office.

Dell

Flexible hybrid work model

According to their Careers Page, Dell has a flexible work policy. They anticipate up to 60% of their employees will work remotely full-time for the foreseeable future. The rest of their staff follow a hybrid work model.

Humana

Office-first hybrid work model

Humana recently launched their official return-to-office, even though their headquarters have been open throughout the pandemic. Some staff are returning to the office full-time, while others are on a hybrid schedule. Their office spaces were also remodeled to enable hybrid work.

Bank of America

Fixed hybrid work model

BNN Bloomberg reports that after mandating a return-to-office and then recalling it, the Bank of America has launched their new approach to work. It includes flexibility based on the role, and outlines that some staff members can work in the office three days per week, with others having access to a certain amount of days per month. Ultimately, the bank wants to make their policy as fair as possible.

Fannie Mae

According to a recent report, most roles are still remote at the organization.

Wells Fargo

Fixed hybrid work model

Wells Fargo launched a hybrid work model where many employees work three or more days per week from the office.

State Farm Insurance

Flexible hybrid work model

According to their press release, State Farm has identified the working model by roles. Most staff will be hybrid, but some employees will be completely remote or completely in-office.

Pfizer

Fixed Hybrid Work Model

Yahoo! Finance reports that starting in January 2023, Pfizer will require workers to work from the office at least two days per week. The policy will be enforced, although it is not clear how.

Citigroup

Employees are expected to work from the office at least two days per week, according to CNN. Employees must be vaccinated to work on-site.

PepsiCo

Remote-first hybrid work model

The company has embraced remote working throughout the pandemic. Now, in-office time is managed on a team-by-team basis.

Intel

The company is focused on flexibility around where work happens, with unique business units or roles operating under separate policies. The office is open but it is not mandatory to go in.

Procter & Gamble

The company implemented a phased return-to-office plan and allowed workers to come in the office by choice.

General Electric

The Boston Globe reports that General Electric has vacated their office space in Boston, MA in favour of downsizing their spaces by next year.

IBM

Certain business units have mandatory return to the office policies. For example, the consulting group must attend at least three days per week. The policy varies among business groups.

MetLife

Return-to-office plans have been postponed quite a few times for MetLife, according to a press release.

Prudential Financial

Flexible hybrid work model

The company has published a policy online that outlines their space reservation policy as well as their flexible work arrangement. They also have identified what types of work makes sense for employees to perform at the office.

Walt Disney

After transitioning to remote work throughout the pandemic, Disney implemented a hybrid work model for corporate employees. They must spend three days per week in office, and the other two days are flexible.

Lockheed Martin

Flexible hybrid work model

The company estimates that 40 to 45% of its workforce follow a hybrid working model. All managers were required to complete 20 hours of training for how to lead teams in a hybrid work environment.

Goldman Sachs Group

The company has been outspoken about opposing remote work. About 65% of employees work full-time from the office. They are nearly back at pre-pandemic office attendance levels.

Raytheon Technologies

Flexible hybrid work model

The firm aims to cut its real estate footprint by 25% or more as it embraces a hybrid work model. They acknowledge that this will help retention and flexibility for employees, among other benefits.

HP

Flexible hybrid work model

Around 80% of employees fall under a hybrid work model, with no mandatory in-office time. However, staff are encouraged to meet up with colleagues at the office for collaboration purposes.

Boeing

Office-first hybrid work model

Facing backlash from the airline industry, Boeing wanted more workers back in the office to increase efficiency and improve the backlog. They acknowledge that there was no data that remote work was less productive or effective.

Morgan Stanley

Office-first hybrid work model

Morgan Stanley has required that workers return to the office full-time, according to the Financial Post. Their CEO has spoken out that this move towards in-person work has not impacted their attractiveness as an employer or their ability to retain top talent.

Tesla

CNBC reports that via email from Elon Musk, workers were told they need to spend at least 40 hours per week in the office. This negatively impacted company morale. Employees can only attend the office around three days per week because of resource shortages, notably, not enough desk spaces.

AbbVie

One of the first companies to launch a return to office, AbbVie required workers to return to the office in September 2020.

Allstate

Flexible hybrid work model

The company has embraced a hybrid work model. They have remodelled their office spaces to better suit engaging between remote and in-person workers.

Even before the pandemic, the company was embracing hybrid work. Their office spaces have since been revamped to activate hybrid work. Their employees can choose the work model that best suits them.

American Express

They have given freedom to managers to determine the appropriate work model. In the state of New York, workers are expected to attend the office at least once per week. The CEO notes that workers should be purposeful about attending the office.

Oracle

Globally, the Oracle offices are open under a hybrid work model, according to their blog. The company promotes a remote-first working model.

Thermo Fisher Scientific

Office-first hybrid work model

Throughout the pandemic, about 60% of the workforce worked from home, with the rest remaining on site. Now, about one-third of the workers who went remote are back in the office full-time. The organization is looking to improve those numbers.

Coca-Cola

Remote-first hybrid work model

Coca-Cola was mandating vaccination before re-entering any offices. Most workers went remote during the pandemic and are slowly returning to offices.

USAA

Some employees are continuing to work remotely full time. Others have total flexibility the office is open for them for hybrid work.
